A letter to parents thinking of joining us

Dear parents,

Choosing a school is mostly guesswork, so let me tell you plainly how we run ours.

We keep sections small — around thirty children — because a teacher who knows all thirty names by the second week can tell the difference between a child who didn't understand and one who didn't revise. Those are different problems, and they need different fixes.

We correct notebooks fully, and we call home early. If your child gets two poor test scores in a row, you will hear from the mentor before the report card does the talking. Some parents find this fussy. Most, I've learned, find it reassuring.

One rule hangs on our staff-room wall: if a child is afraid to ask a question, that is our failure, not theirs. New teachers hear it on their first day. I hope you feel its effect when you visit — children here put their hands up freely, and that matters more to me than any trophy count.

Come on any working Saturday morning. Sit through two periods, meet the mentors, and ask the students anything — they are more honest than our brochure. Then decide.

Warmly,
[PRINCIPAL NAME]
